Find the best coach deals and discounts

Taking the coach is one of the cheapest options to discover the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. However, you might also be able to save even more money by making use of special discounts and deals. FAQ – How can I Save Money When Travelling on the Bus

Can I get a discount as a senior citizen?

Many bus companies offer discounts for senior citizens. However, the age requirement can vary from company to company. Bus companies may either require you to prove your age when booking to get the discount. Others, like National Express, offer a senior coach card with a code that can be used when making online bookings.

What discounts are available for children?

Typically, babies and infants are allowed to travel free of charge. This usually depends on if the child is seated in their parent’s lap rather than in a booster seat. Different bus companies also have different policies when determining if children can get a discounted ticket. Age caps can vary from 10 to 16 while other companies may not offer any discounts for children.

Are there discounts available for students?

A number of coach companies, such as National Express, offer generous discounts for students in school, college or university. Students currently enrolled may obtain an International Student Card. This will then require a student ID for proof to receive the student travel card. These are then applied when booking online.

How can I find special deals or promo codes?

Bus companies frequently provide special deals and seasonal offers. These can be for holidays, such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Halloween or various bank holidays. They can also be a way for a company to celebrate milestones, such as opening new bus routes or an anniversary. One of the best places you can find these are on the companies’ social media channels. Additionally, sites such as Honey, Swagbucks and Promo Code Watch regularly add the latest bus deals.

How do I apply limited deals or promo codes?

Once you have a promo code, you typically need to book online to get the deal. This is where we can help! You can use the CheckMyBus search engine to find bus routes for the day you’d like to travel. Then, you can filter your results by the bus company you have the promo code for. Then, when you click “view deal,” you’ll be redirected to the company’s webpage to make the booking on their site. While making the booking, you’ll typically find a field for promo codes which you can enter to apply the discount.

      Dear Phil,

Thank you for your message. While the passes are good for regional buses, many larger intercity coaches, such as National Express, have their own senior coach cards which are needed for a discount using their services. Between Weston super-mare and Bristol, National Express offers many connections and offers a senior coach-card for £12.50 a year. It allows savings up to 1/3 the ticket price and a free journey if the coach is delayed for more than an hour. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch with us again.

      Dear P.,

According to the General Terms and Conditions of OUIBUS, the prices displayed include all taxes, costs and service costs. However, they do not rule out that in some rare cases the credit card companies themselves might charge a fee but in any case you would be informed about it during the booking process.

      Hello Jean,

the connection from Glasgow to Blackpool is operated by National Express. Unfortunately, this coach company does not offer regular discounts for senior citizens. However, if you’re a frequent traveller, then it might be worth considering National Express’ Senior Coachcard. You can purchase the discount card for £10 and it will then entitle you to 10% off every journey for one year.

      Best regards,
      Your CheckMyBus-Support
