The UK’s leading coach company National Express is about to launch the first direct link between Gatwick Airport and Kent. Up to now, National Express is already operating bus connections from Gatwick to London, South Wales, the South Coast, the Midlands and East Anglia. The latest addition to the National Express timetable is a valuable offer for travellers as it will allow them to reach cities in Kent in a convenient and inexpensive way.
Starting in December, the coach company will provide 24/7-services between Kent and both terminals at Gatwick Airport in London. Buses will stop in cities such as Canterbury, Chatham, Gillingham, Maidstone, Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. Not only are the connections exceptionally cheap with ticket prices starting at £5, but also faster than any rail service. Since all available rail connections between Gatwick and Kent include at least one change, the bus is up to 45 minutes faster than any train in this direction. The journey time on a National Express coach will be about one hour and there will be eight daily connections available, which will take passengers directly to the terminal.
Tom Stables, the Managing Director at National Express, is looking forward to the new travel opportunities: “Our new services to Gatwick offer for the first time a direct link from the airport to Kent by public transport and underline our position as the UK’s number one provider of straight-to-the-airport travel.” The coach company National Express is currently executing about 19 million journeys per year. One third of the overall amount of rides conducted leads to and from airports, such as those in London.
